TRAINING DAY INFO

Intro

On a motoDNA track coaching day, riders are grouped into separate levels based on experience and ability. This ensures safe closing speeds and you will feel more comfortable with riders of similar experience.

Students can pick a group when booking. It’s always best to start in an easier group and work your way up. We can move you into different groups during the day as required.

During the day you will enjoy comprehensive off track briefing sessions from your allocated coach in between 15 – 20 minute track sessions held every hour.

There’s heaps of riding throughout the day so bring plenty of fuel, fruit, drinks and ideally trailer your bike to the track.

motoDNA encourages rookie students to attend one of our workshops before attending a track event. You will learn about all the common mistakes which make your transition to the track seamless and more enjoyable. However, these topics are also briefly covered in the riders briefing.

GROUPS

LEVEL 1 – INTRO

This group is aimed at ROAD RIDERS and TRACK DAY ROOKIES and addresses the most common novice issues making your transition to the track seamless and safe. The goal is to give you a better understanding of bike and rider limits, essential to survival on the road. Topics include racetrack etiquette, basic bike setup, vision, target fixation and more. We guarantee you will finish the day with a huge smile on your face. A lot of road riders enjoy the track experience so much they end up buying a track day bike or go racing.

LEVEL 2 – INTERMEDIATE

The intermediate course is aimed at riders who have completed a few track days and focuses on building your skills, knowledge and confidence to the next level. Topics include body position, line selection, cornering, reference points, braking and more.

LEVEL 3 – ADVANCED

The advanced course is aimed at the more experienced track day rider or racer and takes you to the next level of riding skill and motorcycle setup knowledge. Topics include suspension, geometry, advanced cornering, electronics and more.

MASTERCLASS

The Masterclass course, for level 2 and above, is the ultimate high performance motorcycle education program around. You will be allocated one of our expert coaches, who are all International road racers and include 500GP legend Kevin Magee, 500GP rider Mark Willis, World Super-stock rider Bryan Staring and former International Mark McVeigh. This unique coaching experience will advance your riding skills exponentially by combining motoDNAs holistic program and ultra experienced star coaches. We work on your individual weaknesses which may include psychology, bio mechanics, advanced suspension, geometry, ergonomics and more.

Bike preparation:

You are responsible for your own safety!

There is no scrutineering. All machines must be either ROADWORTHY or RACE READY (if race bikes).

Pay special attention to the following:

Forks: Ensure your forks and seals are in good order. A small problem on the road will be magnified on the track.

Brakes: Brakes are the most important part of the bike, ensure brake lines and system is in good condition. Check your brake calipers and pad wear with a torch as thinly worn pads will boil the fluid more easily. Ensure you have fresh brake fluid.

Chain: An over tightened chain is one of the  most common causes of novice crashes as it restricts full suspension travel and overloads the rear tire – adjust as per you bike manual. Lube the chain at least one day before the track event.
Tires: After brakes, the most important part of the bike. Be careful on green tires. Ensure you have fresh tires as good tires will be more forgiving when you make a mistake. Check you tire pressures when hot as pressure increases with temperature.

Fuel:

There is no fuel at the circuit – top up your tank before and bring spare fuel – you will get plenty of  laps.

Protective Clothing/Equipment:

Motorcycle Leathers 1 piece (or 2 piece that can be zipped together), motorcycle boots, gloves and an Australian Standard approved helmet all undamaged and in good condition.

BACK PROTECTORS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL RIDERS AND MANDATORY FOR LEVEL 2 AND ABOVE.
